Businesses licensed in June must register for Corporate Tax by August 31

FTA has reminded Resident Judicial Persons with licences issued in June to submit their Corporate Tax applications by August 31, 2024, regardless of the year of issuance.

According to the FTA, taxpayers should adhere to the registration deadlines specified for each category. A variety of official media platforms, such as print, visual, audio, and social media channels, as well as direct outreach through the official database of registered UAE company owners, were previously used to announce these deadlines.

In order to avoid the relevant administrative penalties, compliance with these deadlines is essential.

Also, the FTA stipulates that registration applications must be submitted by both juridical and natural persons, including residents and non-residents. On the FTA's official website, https://tax.gov.ae/en/media.centre/news, all persons can access these deadlines, decisions, public clarifications, and other relevant issuances.

Any Resident Juridical Person incorporated or otherwise established or recognised before the 1st March 2024 must submit their Corporate Tax registration application based on the month in which the licence was issued, as per the FTA's Public Clarification regarding the Registration Timelines for Taxable Persons for Corporate Tax.

Persons with an expired licence on 1st March 2024 must submit their tax registration application based on the month in which the licence was issued. A juridical person with more than one Licence on 1st March 2024 shall use the Licence with the earliest issuance date.

Taxable Persons must use the "EmaraTax" digital tax services platform to apply, submit, and register. Through this platform, unregistered persons are able to create a new user profile and obtain a tax registration number conveniently and easily. There are also government service centers across the UAE and accredited tax agents listed on the FTA's website that offer direct service.

As part of the electronic registration application, the FTA has stressed the importance of providing accurate information and submitting updated supporting documents. A juridical person must upload a variety of documents to register for corporate tax, including the commercial licence, Emirates ID, passport, and proof of authorisation.

An explanation of the registration process through the “EmaraTax” platform is available on the FTA's website in a video. This platform was designed according to international best practices to make it easier and faster for all kinds of taxpayers to register, submit periodic returns, and pay taxes in the easiest and quickest way.
