Registration for corporate tax is essential for UAE businesses, especially those with financial year in June

The FTA has warned companies with June-to-May financial years not to delay the process.

Using the FTA website, you can register for UAE Corporate Tax in about 30 minutes.

For businesses and listed companies with financial years beginning June 1, 2023, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) of UAE is urging them to register for their corporate tax filings as soon as possible.

According to tax industry sources, the UAE Corporate Tax registration process started in June and has been going smoothly since then. For corporate entities with a financial year from June to May, the FTA wants all paperwork processed as soon as possible.

Corporate tax obligations for the current financial year must be paid by February 2025. The UAE has fewer companies that operate under the June-to-May financial year regime. The preference is for January-to-December or the 12-month period starting April 1.

Registration involves four steps

On the FTA website, you can register through EmaraTax.

“The corporate tax registration process can be done in four clear and simple steps, taking no longer than 30 minutes,” says the Authority.

Tax account holders can log into their EmaraTax portal accounts if they have already registered for VAT and excise tax. Upon selecting 'taxable person', they will need to select 'corporate tax registration' and fill out the registration form and provide documentation.

An official Tax Registration Number will be issued once the application has been approved.

To enroll in EmaraTax, non-registered taxpayers will need to create an account using their email address and telephone number through the link: eservices.tax.gov.ae

In order to register, the user profile must be created, a taxable person profile must be created, corporate tax registration can be selected, and a registration application must be submitted.
