The UAE Corporate Tax Registration Timeline

The authorities have issued a new notification about the recently implemented Corporate Tax regime.

Emirates authorities recently provided an update on the timeline of Corporate Tax registration, which UAE entities eligible to be registered should know.

In addition to AED 10,000 penalties, non-registration under the Corporate Tax regime will incur other consequences. In order to stay compliant with the UAE's Corporate Tax regime, readers can get valuable insights about the timeline for getting registered under the Corporate Tax regime and other relevant dates.

The new timeline took effect on March 1, 2024. As a result of this decision, there is a different timeline for each entity, which is explained in this blog post from Zyla Accountants.

Timeline for Residents Juridical Persons:

Tax registration applications must be submitted by all resident juridical persons who were incorporated, established, or recognised before March 1, 2024, including freezone entities:

In cases where an entity holds more than one license, the license with the earliest issuance date shall be used to determine the timeline.

The following timelines apply to any resident juridical person incorporated, established, or recognised after March 1, 2024:

Corporate Tax Timeline - Zyla Accountants
  • A juridical person who is recognised, incorporated, or registered under the applicable rules and tax legislation of another country or foreign territory and effectively managed and controlled in the UAE will have to register within 3 months from the end of the entity’s personal financial year.

  • A juridical person who is recognised, incorporated, or registered under the applicable rules and tax legislation of the UAE, inclusive of freezone entities, will have to get registered within 3 months from the date of its incorporation, establishment, or recognition.

Timeline For Non-Resident Resident Juridical Persons:

  • For a non-resident juridical person who has a PE in the country before the effective date of March 1, 2024, the deadline for the submission of the application for CT registration is 9 months from the date of the existence of such a PE

  • For a non-resident juridical person who has a nexus in the country before the effective date of March 1, 2024, the deadline for the submission of the application for CT registration is 3 months from March 1, 2024.

  • For a non-resident juridical person who has a PE in the country after the effective date of March 1, 2024, the deadline for the submission of the application for CT registration is 6 months from the date of the existence of such a PE

  • For a non-resident juridical person who has a nexus in the country after the effective date of March 1, 2024, the deadline for the submission of the application for CT registration is 3 months from the date of the establishment of such a nexus in the country.

Timeline for the Natural Person in the CountryAny natural person who has any business or conducts any business or business activity in the UAE and has a turnover exceeding the threshold of AED 1 million must submit the CT registration application within the stated timelines:

    • For a resident person, March 31st of the subsequent Gregorian calendar year

    • For a non-resident person, 3 months from the date of complying with and satisfying the requisites set out for the determination of taxable persons.

The entities are liable to adhere to this timeline and get themselves registered without delay, or else they will have to pay AED 10,000. Not only the penalty but also the firm's confidentiality and brand reputation will be at stake. So it's better to get the registration done on time.
