The UAE imposes a penalty of AED 10,000 for late corporate tax registration

New regulations issued by the FTA outline the timeframes for registration.

Corporate tax registration deadlines have been set by the UAE Federal Tax Authority, and taxable persons are urged to register on time to avoid tax law infringements.

According to a statement on Tuesday, the earliest deadline will be May 31, 2024, for licenses obtained in January or February.

In a separate statement, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that those who miss the registration deadline will be charged an administrative penalty of AED 10,000 ($2,700).

An FTA decision on Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses, which came into effect on June 1 last year, outlined the registration timelines.

New FTA rules, which begin next month, require "judicial persons that were incorporated, established, or recognized before 1 March 2024" to register for Corporate Tax within the prescribed timeframes:

It is irrelevant what year the license was issued, according to the FTA.

Those without a license by March 1, 2024 must register for corporate tax within three months, or by May 31, 2024.
