Zyla Accountants CEO Suzy Kerton becomes an FTA Corporate Tax agent

Suzy Kerton - FTA Agent Corporate Tax Dubai

Suzy Kerton, CEO of Zyla Accountants, has earned a globally recognised corporate tax accreditation in the region. She earned the Corporate Tax Diploma following a 2 month course.

On 31 January 2022, the UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced the introduction of a federal corporate tax (CT) in the UAE that will be effective for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023.

A smooth and comprehensive implementation of the new legislation requires tax professionals to have an in-depth understanding of the new regulations and their application.

The prestigious Tax Professional Certificate is awarded to those enrolled in a specialised professional training programme held within this initiative. This programme includes comprehensive modules on UAE’s value-added tax (VAT) and Corporate Tax and is presented in both Arabic and English.

To address the need for upskilling regional tax professionals in preparation for the implementation of UAE federal corporate tax (CT) in June 2023, PWC introduced a globally recognised UAE Corporate Tax Diploma, awarded by the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT - UK), which will provide comprehensive knowledge of the new regulations, legislation requirements and their practical application.

The Diploma examination is approved by the UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

Following Suzy's training at PwC's Academy Middle East in 2024, Zyla Accountants DXB is now officially an FTA Tax Agency!

Suzy Kerton said: "This initiative aims to enhance work efficiency and achieve improved outcomes within the advanced tax system in the UAE. I am delighted to hold the status of an FTA Corporate Tax agent and would like to thank my trainers Dalia Qarawi and Shakeel Bagi for their support during the process".

Samar Sayegh, PwC Partner and PwC Academy Middle East Leader, said about the training:, “This unique collaboration with the Department of Finance (DOF) Dubai mars a significant milestone in our mission to empower UAE nationals with the expertise and tools needed to navigate a dynamic and evolving regulatory landscape. Our tax upskilling solutions are designed to equip professionals with a deep understanding of global standards and best practices, while tailoring these insights to the unique context of regional regulations.

By fostering advanced knowledge and practical skills, this programme will not only accelerate career progression for participants but also contribute to building a highly skilled workforce that drives the UAE’s economic transformation and supports its vision for sustainable growth.”

The programme to obtain the professional tax certificates spans 18 training days, totalling 108 training hours.
